Windows 95/98 & Driver Installation Procedures for FM5600

Along with the system you may have received either a driver CD or Diskette. Use appropriate media when indicated.

AUDIO
Windows 98SE

1. Insert the Notebook PC CD in the CD ROM drive.
2. Click "Start", then "Run".
3. Type in "D:\audio\Setup.exe" in the Open: box.
4. Click "OK".
5. Click "Next" on the Welcome screen.
6. Select SiS PCI Audio Driver and click "Next" on the Select Components screen.
7. Insert Windows 98 SE CD in the CD ROM drive when prompted after reboot.
8. Click "OK".
9. SiS 7018 Audio Driver will be installed in Device Manager | Sound, Video and game... after installation.
10. The default IRQ and IO setting for the audio is IRQ 5 and IO 340.

Windows 2000
1. Insert the Notebook PC CD in the CD ROM drive.
2. Click "Start", then "Run".
3. Type in "D:\audio\Setup.exe" in the Open: box.
4. Click "OK".
5. Click "Next" on the Welcome screen.
6. Select SiS PCI Audio Driver and click "Next" on the Select Components screen.
7. Click "Yes" on the Digital Signature Not Found screen.
8. Click "Finish" and restart computer.
9. SiS 7018 Audio Driver will be installed in System Properties | Hardware | Device Manager | Sound, Video and
    game... after installation.
10. The default IRQ and IO setting for the audio is IRQ 10 and IO 340.

VIDEO
Windows 98SE
1. Insert the Notebook PC CD in the CD ROM drive.
2. Click "Start", then click "Run".
3. Type in "D:\video\Win9x\Setup.exe" in the Open: box.
4. Click "OK".
5. Click "Next" on the Welcome screen.
6. Setup Type screen comes up. Select Typical, then click "Next".
7. Click "Next" again.
8. Click "Next" on Start Copying Files screen.
9. Click "Finish" and restart computer.
10. Place the mouse cursor in a free space.
11. Right click the mouse and click "Properties".
12. Change the background to "None" in the Background tab if you want to remove the SiS 630 banner in the
      Windows desktop.
13. Click the Settings tab.
14. Change the Settings to "32 bits" color.
15. SiS 630 will be installed in Device Manager | Display Adapters after installation.

Windows 2000
1. Insert the Notebook PC CD in the CD ROM drive.
2. Click "Start", then "Run".
3. Type in "D:\video\Win2000\Setup.exe" in the Open: box.
4. Click "OK".
5. Click "Next" on the Welcome screen.
6. Setup Type screen comes up. Select Typical , then click "Next".
7. Click "Next" again.
8. Click " Next " on Start Copying Files screen.
9. Click "Finish" and restart computer.
10. Place the mouse cursor in a free space.
11. Right click the mouse and click "Properties".
12. Change the background to "None" in the Background tab.
13. Click the "Settings" tab.
14. Change the Settings to "32 bits" color and the Screen area to "800 x 600 pixels".
15. SiS 630 will be installed in System Properties | Hardware | Device Manager | Display Adapters after
      installation.

LAN
Windows 98

1. Right Click "My Computer", then "Properties".
2. Click "Device Manager", then "Other devices".
3. Double click "PCI Ethernet Controller".
4. Click "Driver", then "Update Driver".
5. Insert the Media Notebook PC CD in the CD ROM drive.
6. Click "Next" on Update Device Driver Wizard screen.
7. Select "Search for a better driver than the one..." and click "OK".
8. Select "Specify a location" and type "D:\lan\WIN98" in the empty box. Click "Next".
9. Click "Next" again.
10. Insert Windows 98SE CD in the CD ROM drive when prompted. Click "OK".
11. Win98 will find the driver for SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter. Click "Finish".
12. Restart computer.
13. SiS900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter will be installed under Device Manager Network adapter after installation.
14. The default IRQ and IO settings will be IRQ 10 and IO 320.

Windows 2000
1. Insert the Media Notebook PC CD in the CD ROM drive.
2. Click "Start", then "Run".
3. Type in "D:\lan\Setup.exe" in the Open: box.
4. Click "OK".
5. Click "Next" on the Welcome screen.
6. Click "Yes" on the Digital Signature Not Found screen.
7. Click "Finish" and restart computer.
8. SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter will be installed in System Properties | Hardware | Device Manager |
    Network adapters after installation.
9. The default IRQ and IO setting for the audio is IRQ 10 and IO 320.

Modem
Windows 98SE

1. Right Click "My Computer", then "Properties".
2. Click "Device Manager", then "Other devices".
3. Double click "PCI Card".
4. Click "Driver", then "Update Driver".
5. Insert the Media Notebook PC CD in the CD ROM drive.
6. Update Device Driver Wizard screen comes up.
7. Select "Search for a better driver than the one...", click "Next".
8. Update Device Driver Wizard screen comes up.
9. Type in "D:\MDC\win98" in the empty box, then click "Next".
10. 98SE will find MDMSLAMR.INF as the driver for HAMR 5600 Voice Modem, click "Next".
11. Click "Finish" and restart the computer.
12. The default COM port is COM 3.

Windows 2000
1. Right Click "My Computer", then "Properties".
2. Click "Device Manager" under Hardware tab., then click "Other devices".
3. Double click "PCI Card".
4. Click "Driver", then "Update Driver".
5. Insert the Media Notebook PC CD in the CD ROM drive.
6. Update Device Driver Wizard comes up, click "Next".
7. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and click "Next".
8. Select "Specify a location" and click "Next".
9. Update Device Driver Wizard screen comes up again.
10. Type in "D:\MDC\win2000" in the empty box and click "OK".
11. Click "Next" again.
12. Click "Yes" on Digital Signature Not Found screen.
13. Windows will update the driver for HAMR 5600 Voice Modem. Click "Finish".
14. HAMR5600 Voice Modem will be installed under Device Manager | Modems after installation.
15. The default COM port is COM 3.
